Everyone wants a ripped or flat abdomen. Unfortunately, belly fat is stubborn. It’s not easy to break up with it. Thankfully, though, it’s not impossible to get rid of it. But can belly fat go away on its own? That is, without exercise?
Let’s find out here.
Can Belly Fat Go Away without Exercise?
I’m going to answer this question by sharing my brother-in-law’s experience.
He used to have a bulging stomach as a result of drinking alcoholic beverages and, well, eating a lot of fatty food.
But when he started dialysis, he was forced to modify his diet. He didn’t eat meat. He consumed more fish, fruits, and vegetables.
No processed foods.
Within two to three months, his belly was nearly flat. He didn’t have ripped abs, though, but he became leaner.
It’s important to note that he wasn’t exercising at that time.
So, yes belly fat can be trimmed without exercise. However, you need to modify your diet.
Even if you exercise regularly but you’re not modifying your diet, your belly fat will remain defiant.

Have an Eating Plan
You need to choose a healthy eating plan. In my brother-in-law’s case, he chose to eat fish, plenty of fruits, and vegetables.

However, if you wish to be successful in losing your belly fat, you need to count calories to lower your calorie intake.

Burn Belly Fat by Moving a Lot
Any physical activity can help you burn abdominal fat. Exercise works off visceral fat because it lowers insulin levels circulating in your blood.
Keep in mind that insulin signals the body to stick to fat. When you move, your body starts to use fatty acids, especially visceral fat deposits.
How many hours every week do you need to burn your visceral fat? It depends on your goals. Experts recommend getting at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day.
When it comes to exercise, the first thing that might come to your mind is cardio. But cardio exercises aren’t the only physical activities you must focus on.
You should lift weights too. Strength training is just as effective as cardio exercise in trimming your belly fat.
With strength training, though, you’re building lean muscle mass. And when you have more muscle mass, you’re burning more calories throughout the day, even if you’re at rest.
Resolve Your Stress
When you’re stressed out, the stress hormone cortisol triggers fat absorption in the belly. Stress is sometimes good.
However, if you’re always stressed, you need to start talking to your doctor or finding ways to handle it.
You can start taking up yoga classes or practice any form of meditation will help you become more mindful of what you’re eating.
With that in mind, you can prevent yourself from binging on chips. Instead, you will prefer eating healthy vegetables and lean meat.
Lowering your stress will also help you sleep better at night. Keep in mind that if you don’t have enough sleep, you’re likely to overeat the following day.
Sleep plays a huge role in regulating your hormone levels. If there are disruptions to its production, it can lead to overeating.
